Coco Jaunt 1728, Teynampet

Wanderlust
When Coco Jaunt opened their first outlet in Anna Nagar, I was invited for the food tasting session. I was totally bowled over by their ambiance and the food. Now again, when they opened the doors of their second outlet, a prominent Chennai food group on Facebook named 'Chennai Food Guide' organised a food tasting session and I was lucky enough to be one among the invitees.

Done up in white and dash of yellow, the cafe looks bright and very elegant. This cafe is made for those who love food and travel (who doesn't love these two things anyway?).

Coco Jaunt is a new age cafe and bakery. Very similar to their Anna Nagar branch and doing all the justice to their 'Wanderlust' theme, this place is filled with little travel souvenirs here and there. Unlike their other branch which is just one floor and very spacious, this branch is spread across two floors and not as spacious as the other one. We were seated in the first floor. And ground floor was too crowded for us to even enter and click pictures.

First floor has very cool grafitti on the all of the walls. A very cute selfie-corner with a girl holding umbrella. Lot of travel related frames adorn the walls. Immigration stamps, maps, mini bike show-pieces, tyre book shelves and what not!
From what I could see from outside, even ground floor is done in a similar way. Very chic decor. Will be loved by all age groups.

The new age rough&tough woman and the cool rider makes a perfect couple, isn't it? :D

This particular wall was the highlight in the ambiance for me. That free spirited girl with her umbrella trying to fly away is just so wow. And that graffiti complemented it so well! This girl makes a good photo-posing place too. ;)

You're somebody who loves road trip? So whatcha waiting for? Here's you car. Vroom away! :D

Now coming to the food, their menu consists of range of cakes, pasties, chocolates, sandwiches, wraps, bunny chow, hot chocolate and fries (just the way they have in the other branch) with a new lovely addition of thin crust pizzas. We had a set menu for the evening and the menu was quite elaborate. Here's my take on them:

WELCOME DRINKS:

Granita - This came in two flavors: Green apple and Blue bay. Since I don't like crushers, I just had a sip of each and green apple was the clear winner.

Hot chocolate - Because I didn't have the crushers, I ordered for a hot chocolate. I am not a chocolate person but then I heard a lot of rave reviews about Coco's hot chocolate and I must say, it was totally worth all the raving. It was pure bliss.

Nutty caramel shake - This is one my fav drink in CJ ever since I had it in their Anna Nagar outlet. I was very happy seeing this coming towards me, but then, it was a let down. Not sure what was wrong with the drink but it just wasn't like the one I have had in the other outlet. It lacked the punch.

Brownie shake - Everyone loved it. To me, it was decent.

FRIES & DIPS:

We were served the assorted fries with 4 types of dips - Peri Peri, Mexican, Olive & herb, Cheese & onion. Cheese & onion was the crowd favorite. All of the fries went really well with this dip.

We were also served a non-veg version of the fries - Chicken masala fries. Fries topped with minced chicken. It was really good and non-vegetarians gobbled it up really fast.

GARLIC BREAD:

This came in two variants - Paneer tikka & roasted chicken. Being a hardcore carnivore one would expect to love the chicken version but here, I totally enjoyed eating the Paneer tikka version more than the roasted chicken. Soft melt-in-the-mouth paneer with cheese topped all over it on a garlic bread base worked wonders. Chicken version lacked the powerpacked flavor.

SANDWICHES:

This again came in Paneer and Chicken version. And yet again, Paneer won over the chicken one. Paneer sandwich had ample amount of soft paneer in it whereas the chicken sandwich could have done with a little more chicken pieces. The sandwich platter was served with coleslaw and french fries. Coleslaw was an absolute delish.

PIZZA:

By the time pizza arrived, we all were almost filled till the brim. Our set menu listed two veg and two non-veg variants of the pizza but we stopped with 2veg and 1non-veg! The pizza crust was thin and baked to perfection. The base is what made those pizzas taste so amazing.

Vegabond - The vegabond pizza had a lot of zucchini, mushrooms, jalapenos, capsicums, olives and cheese all over it. Fresh zucchini with the cheese was yummy!

Alpha gama FETA - Yes, a wordplay there! This one had a pesto base loaded with cheese, feta and olives. The pesto flavor was really strong which added a lot more yumminess to the pizza. If you love pesto, this is something you shouldn't miss.

Glad to me(a)et - This stole the show, for me. It had everything a meat lover would want to have - Meat chunks, salami, sausages. Killer combo. Loved every bite of it.

BUNNY CHOW:

Similar to sandwiches and garlic breads, there was a Paneer makhani and a butter chicken variant of it. Both of the gravies tasted similar though. Butter chicken had a very unique flavor - not something I have had yet. Went went with the bun. Comes with potato wedges and coleslaw.

For those who don't know what Bunny Chow is, it is a South African dish where you cut a small portion of a whole bun, stuff your gravy inside it and cover the bun and then eat it together. Very interesting and one of it's kind, the first in Chennai.

DESSERT PLATTER:

Platter had German Chocolate Cake, Bitter & blanc with vanilla sauce, a cookie and a piece of caramel stuffed chocolate.

Although I am not a dessert person, I had loved their German chocolate when I went to the Anna nagar branch and I was waiting for it from the very beginning. The german chocolate contains shredded coconut and gives a very unique flavor to the usual cake that we eat and I totally loved the concept. But unfortunately, it didn't taste the same. This one was a bit too soft and had too much of coconut and just didn't taste like the one I had earlier. Rest of the desserts, I didn't try!

Service: Obviously, this was a tasting session so there can't be any glitch in the service and yes we were treated really special.

But one thing you'll get to hear from many about Coco Jaunt is their service is slow and why it is so is because most of their ingredients are made from the scratch in house. So when you place an order, it's made right from the scratch and not re-heated stuff. So next time you go to Coco Jaunt & your order takes time to reach your table, don't crib and be happy that your order is being prepared freshly. If you're really hungry or in a hurry, let them know in the first place so that they get you your order sooner.

And, their pricing factor is very very reasonable, all of the rates in their menu includes taxes too, which makes this cafe a must visit.

Oh, we were also given an assorted box of home-made chocolates and they tasted excellent! :D
Sweet endings! :D

Thanks a lot Aliji for inviting me for this awesomesauce tasting session. You're the one who motivated me to start a blog and so, this, my first blog is dedicated to you! :D
